This is a HUGE Parks, Recreation & Tourism weekend:
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is the world’s premier BMX racing series for Men Elite and
Women Elite. This international race series is the most important means by which countries
qualify for the BMX World Championships and Olympic Games.
This World Cup will be held here – over a three day period with the competition days being on
Friday and Saturday evenings under the lights. In addition, the Carolina Cup (an amateur BMX
race) will be held on Saturday morning – preceding the World Cup competition. There are an
estimated 150 riders expected to compete.
Criterium and MTB races will take place on the courses next to the BMX track on Saturday, as well.
The 2019 Collegiate Track Cycling Nationals will be held at the Giordana Velodrome
(1000 Riverwalk Parkway) this same weekend, AND the GRIPPED Festival will occur at the BMX area – Friday afternoon and all day on Saturday of the event. Bring everyone! This family-friendly event features carnival rides, games, music, food, a BMX stunt show, bike rodeo, vendors and much more!
