The Guild of the Museum of York County invites the public to meet Kimberly P. Johnson, author of “No Fear for Freedom: the Story of the Friendship 9” – the first book published that tells the story. This January, 54 years after the “Jail, No Bail” sit-in and arrest, Rock Hill’s Friendship Nine re-enter the courtroom to have their records vacated. To further the celebration of civil rights, a new musical, based on Johnson’s book, premieres at a later date at the Emmett Scott Center’s McGirt Auditorium in Rock Hill.

Ms. Johnson will speak on her research, the book, the musical, and on how the group’s records come to be vacated after more than half a century. The event is free. The book is available for purchase from the Museum Store.

January 12 – 10:00 AM
