Enjoy a wonderful evening of pure musical virtuosity as Alan Black and the Tryon Street Quintet perform String Quintet No. 2 Opus 77 by Antonin Dvorak; Duo for Cello and Bass by Gioacchino Rossini, and String Quintet No. 26, Opus 67, “Saint George Quintet” by George Onslow.

Each of these works highlights the deep tones of the contrabass, performed by the Charlotte Symphony’s Principal Double Bassist, Kurt Reicken. Alan Black is the principal cellist with the Charlotte Symphony. Black performs on a 1995 Moes & Moes cello originally built for and played by Yo-Yo Ma. The quintet is made complete with performances by Charlotte Symphony’s Associate Concert Master, Joseph Meyer, and First Violinist, Jenny Topilow, and orchestral and chamber musician, Kirsten Swanson, on viola.

Advance tickets: $15/person for Arts Council of York County members and $20/person for non-members. Tickets may be purchased, in advance: call 803-328-2787 or in person at the Center for the Arts at 121 East Main Street, Rock Hill, or by visiting http://www.yorkcountyarts.org to purchase online. All tickets are $25 at the door; no member discounts will be applied at this time.
