The Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra is offering a special Family Concert designed for children – ages three
through 12 – and their families. It will be a 50-minute interactive program featuring the exploration of
how string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments produce sound and how the different families of
instruments make up a symphony orchestra.
Maestro Rudge will lead through several short pieces that include movements from Britten’s Simple Symphony, Handel’s Organ Concerto, “The Cuckoo & the Nightingale” – featuring organist, Justin Addington (and St. John’s United Methodist Church’s beautiful newly renovated organ), a Mozart Divertimento and an Overture by Rossini. Everyone will have plenty of opportunities to actively participate in the fun!
