Independence Day will be celebrated at Historic Brattonsville’s main site (not Hightower Hall).
The living history farm at Brattonsville will be bustling in an 1850s style celebration this
Independence Day. Period-dressed interpreters honor our national holiday with fun activities
and games planned for visitors of all ages. Historical cooking demonstrations feature an
outdoor barbecue and traditional summer recipes of the Carolina Piedmont. Activities include
firing demonstrations at 12:30 and 3:30 PM; dancing at 11 AM and 1:30 PM; the reading of the
Declaration of Independence on the porch of the Colonel Bratton House at noon and 3 PM.
PW’s Gourmet Ice Cream of Rock Hill will be available for purchase. Picnic baskets are welcomed.
Historic Brattonsville is a Blue Star Museum offering free admission throughout the summer to
the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families (including National Guard and
