Historic Brattonsville – The Battle of Huck’s Defeat (Annual Re-enactment)
1444 Brattonsville Road, McConnells, SC
http://www.chmuseums.org

Historic Brattonsville, an 800-acre living history plantation, is the actual site of the Battle of Huck’s Defeat,
an important Patriot Militia triumph in the late 1780s that set the stage for significant Patriot victories
during the American Revolution.

Reenactments of two pivotal battles take place this weekend when history seems to repeat itself as live-action
cavalry and camp life are portrayed by reenact-or regiments from all over the Southeast. There will be
demonstrations of 18th-century artillery firing and pistols and sabers wielded by soldiers on horseback!

Period-dressed interpreters demonstrate 18th-century food-ways, medicine and traditional arts such as weaving and blacksmithing throughout the weekend. Children’s militia drills, games and make-and-take activities will be ongoing. Visitors may also walk the grounds of the actual American Revolution battle.

Saturday, July 13 Itinerary:
Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place at noon – followed by a special tribute to the late Michael Scoggins.
The re-enactment of the Battle of Huck’s Defeat will take place at 2 PM.

Sunday, July 14 Itinerary:
Attend a church service in the Oak Grove at 10:30 AM followed by an 18th-century style wedding.
