This River Safety and Rescue workshop is a must for any recreational kayakers who paddle either slow or fast moving water – regardless of their experience level or type of craft.
The 1-day workshop teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques, and simple rescues of paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed on both personal safety and simple, commonly used skills. Fundamental techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer, such as entrapments and pins, are also taught. Advanced kayaking skills are not required. Participants will be issued an ACA participation card at the conclusion of the workshop. This clinic is suitable for beginner kayakers ages 14 and up. Exact clinic length is subject to change based on water levels, weather and other factors.
